CELEBRATE “75 YEARS OF BEER!”

April 4, 2008

ON MONDAY WE WILL HONOR 75 YEARS OF BEER with a big
celebration at Bottoms Up Brewhouse -- details on that
below. But first, here’s the reason for the party straight
from the Brewers’ Association (www.beertown.com):

“Monday marks the 75th anniversary of the modification of
the Volstead Act on April 7, 1933, which allowed beer to
legally flow once again in the United States of America.
Historians note that Prohibition officially ended on
December 5, 1933, with the ratification of the 21st
Amendment. But earlier that year, newly-elected President
Franklin D. Roosevelt took steps to fulfill his campaign
promise to end the national ban on alcohol. He spurred
Congress to modify the Volstead Act to allow the sale of
3.2 percent beer in advance of the Twenty-first Amendment
being ratified. Thus on April 7, 1933,Roosevelt himself
received newly legalized beer at the White House to toast
what was the beginning of the end for Prohibition. In the
24-hours that followed, more than 1.5 million gallons of
beer flowed as Americans celebrated.”

DID YOU KNOW? Today the beer industry contributes nearly
$190 billion annually to the U.S. economy and provides more
than 1.7 million jobs to our nation’s workforce. Americans
now have access to nearly 13,000 labels of beer, including
seven or eight from a little brewery located in O’Fallon.

HERE’S HOW TO CELEBRATE WITH US: We’re hosting a 75th
Anniversary Party of the Repeal of Prohibition Party at
Bottoms Up Brewhouse in O’Fallon (2693 Highway K,
636-240-9218). Bottoms Up will be running an O'Fallon pint
glass promotion from 4:00 p.m. to close: pay $5 for your
first pint, keep the glass and pay $3 for refills of
O’Fallon 5-Day IPA draft and O’Fallon Gold & Wheach
bottles.

Join us at 7:00 for a 75th Anniversary toast and then hang
out from 7:00-9:00 for the Bottoms Up "Monday Night Beer
Fight Night" taste challenge tournament and a "Write You
Own Toast" contest in which the winners (selected by
audience response) will win O'Fallon Brewery prizes!

GO CARDS! And look for O’Fallon Wheach bottles at Busch
Stadium in the Backstop Lounge on the main level behind
home plate.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND and enjoy a good beer -- and let’s all
try to make the world a better place one beer at a time.

Cheers!
