I HAVE JUST DISCOVERED BEER CHURCH!
February 22, 2008
TONY HAS ALWAYS BELIEVED IN THE MYSTICAL POWER BEER. Now I’ve found some folks who are promoting beer as a way to help solve society’s problems. Here’s their 11-word mission: “Make the world a better place one beer at a time.” Those of you who know me are aware that I’m an “every Sunday” Episcopalian and that’s not going to change, but I can still wrap my arms around the ideas these folks stand for. From their website (www.beerchurch.com) here’s a description of their philosophy: “In our human society, beer is a conduit, or catalyst, for bringing people together. As a unified association of beer drinkers our potential to affect positive social change is enormous. Be kind and giving, love one another, care about one another, and help one another. Use beer as a way to do those things. That’s what Beer Church wants to do.” Hmmm, maybe Tony’s been right all along. And here’s their call to action: “Join us in our mission. Dedicate yourself to making the world a better place one beer at a time. Be nice to people. Care about your community. Don’t be offensive in your love of beer. Respect other people who believe in something different than you. Be responsible and use beer as a way to do good things. That’s all we ask.” I’m hooked. BIG SKY CAFÉ BEER DINNER Here’s another chance to enjoy food paired with beer! Big Sky Café is hosting an O’Fallon Brewery beer dinner on March 5th (that’s a Wednesday) from 7:00 to 8:30. Upon your arrival you’ll be greeting with an O’Fallon Gold followed by an amazing menu: O'Fallon Gold Beer Battered Spring Rolls w/ peach red chile sweet & sour sauce paired with O'Fallon Wheat; Duck Confit Flatbread w/ goat cheese, red onion & spinach paired with O'Fallon 5-day IPA; Maytag Blue Cheese & Pepper Bacon Bison Sliders w/ Vermont white cheddar cheese & tobacco onions paired w/ O'Fallon Smoked Porter. Yum! Cost is $37 per person and seating is limited, so call ASAP for reservations: 314-962-5757. Have a great weekend and let’s all try to make the world a better place one beer at a time. Cheers!
